Welcome to our website, we're barely starting so I hope that you all will enjoy talking and sharing your thoughts and experiences with the rest of our avid cycling enthusiasts in the Philippines and Filipinos around the world!

    Why PADYAKAN?

We couldn't help it, there's just got to be a community website that will host "padyakan" -- the simplest Tagalog word to describe pedaling a bicycle. I could not believe it that this domain name was available until the time we registered it. Despite that fact that the word "padyakan" is mentioned all the time in Philippine cycling discussions and announcements the domain was just either an event title or a sub-domain of another website. But anyways, here it is now.. 'hope you all enjoy the bits of information that will come out of it. It is our fervent hope that you will join us now.. let us grow the site TOGETHER, let's see how far Filipino cycling can thrive.

All of you are welcome to submit blogs and stories, announcement for your ride events and almost anything under the sun - all in the spirit of having a good time!

And ofcourse, we'll see you in the forums..

Hop on your bike, padyakan na!!

    1. Get the right size of bike. This is more important than the cost of the bike because even if you spend tens of thousand on a bike that does not fit you properly, then may just end up hurting yourself and miss the joy of riding. A lot of people who are new to cycling give up very early on because they don't seem to get the comfortable feel. You must be one with the bike and the only way to attain that is if you have the right size of bike. Make sure the shop's resident mechanic can custom-fit the bike to your specific measurements.

    2. Get a true road bike with drop-bar handles, not a hybrid bike with flat bars -- no matter how light weight that bike is. Road bikes are designed for aerodynamic riding positioning. It makes your pedalling more efficient because you are able to transfer most of your energy in making the bike move forward.

    3. Invest in good saddle and tires. We all want to make our bikes look nice. This often leads us to over spending on expensive accessories. But if you are to spend good money on jazzing up your bike, start with good seats and tires.

    4. Try out the bike first before committing to buy it. Once you've had the bike custom fitted according to your height, arms and legs length, go ahead, go outside the shop and ride the bike. If the shop owner won't let you try it outside, move to another shop immediately.

    5. Get the best bike that you can afford. Set a budget and stick to it. One factor that may raise the price of a bike for good and valid reason is the weight of the bike, the lighter - the better. No matter how much you spend, just make sure that feel good about your investment, it will make your rides and a lot of future rides much more enjoyable.
